We have moved into our new home and it is great. So homely and the kids are having the best time playing outdoors and in the pool. Daryl is like a little boy in a toy shop with all the DIY that needs to be done. He is having the most fun of all, which is awesome, however i really wish he would stop and think about things before bulldozing ahead!!
Within 24hrs of moving in he had cut a big hole in the side of the shower. It was very dark inside (old crappy shower) and he needed more light so he could see to shave. Not too bad a job considering he really has no idea what he is doing! And we will eventually be renovating the whole bathroom, so it is only makeshift.
Within two days him and his brother-in-law had cut down most of the trees from around the pool. Again a good job. They were not sensible trees to have around a pool, ie ones with needles and big seeds that clog up pool filters. Not to mention the fact the trees shaded the afternoon sun off my clothesline.
My big whinge comes from him taking the wardrobe out of our end room. A job that needed to be done as we are turning it into a family room. However i had all my trade me 'for sale' clothes in the wardrobe. He decided to start during the crucial getting kids to bed time of night. Told me i had better move my stuff as it would be getting messy. Sorry Daryl, but i need to get kids to bed, can you do it for me or settle down and wait a moment. Of course neither of these were options, so off he went and pulled the wardrobe down around the clothes. Grrrr! I now have more washing to do so it's nice and clean in time to post away! He also stopped his banging once i put the kids to bed.... this lasted all of 1/2 hour, before banging, smashing and sawing began again. This morning he was up and straight back in to it. I'm not sure he even stopped for the bathroom before starting, LOL! And all before the kids were awake, needless to sat they didn't stay asleep for too much longer.
As we are planning on doing quite a bit of renovating i am now feeling a little nervous at his over-eagerness to get things done!
